Video Playback Problem
Some of you may have noticed that movies uploaded to your drops since Droppler 1.5 was released are not playing back. You typically see an error message stating "This video format is not supported."
This is caused by a recent drop.io change to the video conversion process that occurs when you upload movies to your drop. Your movie file is converted, ONCE, at upload time. The conversion is supposed to produce a movie file that will play back on the iPhone when accessed via the drop.io API. Unfortunately, the recent changes broke iPhone playback.
I have been assured by the folks at drop.io that they are investigating and will fix iPhone playback ASAP. However, once fixed, the only way to make your existing videos play back properly within Droppler will be to re-upload the broken videos, since they will need to be re-converted.
I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused any Droppler customers.

DropKit: Drop.io API Objective-C Library
Droppler is built on top of my own library of classes that provide an Objective-C wrapper around the Drop.io API. I am releasing this library, which I have dubbed DropKit, as open source code, so that Mac OS, iPhone and iPod Touch developers can create great apps using Drop.io.
In particular, DropKit easily solves a problem vexing iPhone developers -- namely, how to get data created on the iPhone off of it, storing it somewhere where other users can get to it? Prior to the release of the DropIO API, developers were forced to roll their own solutions, building filesharing code or mini-servers into their iPhone apps. With DropKit, developers now have a simple API for storing iPhone data on the web.
Now, because of limitations in the Drop.io API, it is currently not possible to read back the original file that you store on Drop.io, unless you receive special permission through your developer API key from Drop.io. You must read back a version of the file that has been converted for use within your drop's web pages. If you are granted that special access, however, you could use Drop.io to read and write your application's data. For instance, your app could persist its data across iPhone OS restores or application updates.
