Enter the embed code of some online media, then click "Insert!". With this editor you can create notes for your drop with rich text formatting as well as certain embedded media.
In order to create a note, start typing in the large text box of the editor. The formatting buttons available to you below the textbox are, in order: .
In order to use the majority of these, first highlight the text you would like formatted, then click the button to apply the formatting.
In some cases, such as when adding a link, in addition to highlighting text and then pushing the button, you will also be prompted to enter some additional
information (in this case the URL). In yet other cases, such as when embedding media or editing the note's HTML, you do not need to highlight any text first,
but rather simply enter the information (in these cases, the embed code or some HTML) for which you will be prompted after pushing the button.
The Embed function mentioned aboved is one of the most powerful things you can do with this editor. In order to insert say, a Vimeo or
YouTube video into your note, first find and copy the embed code for the media in which you are interested from the site on which you found it. Then, click the
Embed button. A dialog box will slide open above the note's toolbar with a textbox in the center. Paste the embed code into this box and then click "Insert!" Note that the media itself
will not appear in the editor window quite yet -- instead, a placeholder will be put there for now. Once you save your note and view it from your drop, the actual media will then appear.
The only allowable embedded media types are: Drop.io image, Disqus, Dailymotion, SlideShare, Drop.io document, YouTube, Google Calendar, Viddler, Drop.io audio, Seesmic, Ustream.TV Recorded, Tipjoy, Vimeo, Revision 3, Hulu, Blip.TV, Drop.io video, Twitter, Digg, Ustream.TV Live, Drop.io upload widget, and MotionBox.
Another powerful feature of the editor is the HTML Source Editor, which allows you have greater control over the formatting of your note. When you push the
HTML button it will open up a dialog containing the HTML source code for your note. You can them manually add, edit, and remove
HTML tags to markup your text.
The only allowable HTML tags are: u, strong, em, b, i, p, code, pre, tt, output, samp, kbd, var, sub, sup, strike, font, dfn, cite, big, small, address, hr, br, div, span, h1, h2, h3, h4, h5, h6, ul, ol, li, dt, dd, abbr, acronym, a, img, blockquote, del, ins, fieldset, and legend. And the only allowable attributes for those tags are: href, src, width, height, alt, cite, datetime, title, class, id, style, size, and color.
All other tags and attributes will be stripped out before being saved.
Finally, if you are typing a very long note and would like to see more of it at a time, you can click and drag the bottom right corner of the
editor to resize it.
