Free Knitting Pattern
Free Knitting Pattern:
Hello
I have published a knitting pattern that I designed on my blog at http://motorparkscars.blogspot.com/2009/01/police-car-tea-cosy-knitting-pattern.html
The knitting pattern is of a Police car tea cosy. I would be thrilled if you could include a link to it on your knitting patterns list.
Thanks

"Everybody knows"
"Everybody knows": Hi Amy!
My name is Ana and I am writing from Portugal. Me and my friend have an
online knitting store and you can find us at: www.knit.com.pt .
When the last knitty came out we immediately fell in love with most of the
patterns, as usual!
Our store has a weekly newsletter with news from our sotre, knitting amd
crochetting tips and patterns in portuguese. Unfortunately there isn't much
to choose from in matter of portuguese patterns so we usually translate the
english ones into portuguese. We obviously ask for the designer's permission
before we do that!
>From knitty we chose the recently published "Everybody knows". I have been
in touch with Anna asking for permission to translate and publish the
pattern and she is ok with as long as Knitty also gives permission for that.
So I am writing to you asking for that permission. Will you be ok with us
translating and sending the pattern with the newsletter to our members (with
credits to you and Anna of course)?
Please let me know what you think.
Thank you so much for your attention!
Kindest regards from Lisbon,
Ana

Tushy cushy
Tushy cushy: Hi,
I'm not sure whether you are the right person to contact or not but please
please please remove the pictures of this cushion with the baby from the
knitty website. The warning itself is not enough, people will remember the
cushion by its pictures and and will probably overlook the warning. This
cushion is dangerous for babies.
Just a note from a very worried mother.
Thank you for taking my note into consideration.
Best regards,
Ilona Smits.

Hi Amy!
I'm not sure you remember me. It's Wendy (from damewendy.com and dame candle company) Since you're a fellow blogger user who also uses a custom favicon I thought I'd share. :) Recently google changed some things and all custom favicons were replaced by the blogger symbol. Ugh. So I found a fix that worked for mine. :)
It's here: http://blogger-tricks.blogspot.com/2008/10/fix-for-missing-favicon.html

Fw: Moebius ring
Fw: Moebius ring: Dear Amy,
At November the 11th I have sent this message to Theresa. Unfortunately I did not hear from her but maybe she wasn't able to reply. Therefore I am now sending the question to you hoping you can help me. This mistery doesn't leave my thoughts and I would love to get some hints.
Thank you in advance, I hope to hear from you.
Um abraço,
Helena

Subject: Moebius ring
Dear Theresa,
For some time now I am a happy reader of Knitty.com. I love it and have come across so many great and very useful articles in the on line magazine.
I hope you can give me advise on the following matter. Some time ago I bought the book: "The best of Vogue Knitting, 25 years" and in it on page 142 there is an article on knitting a Moebius ring. It shows a picture of a sweater with such a collar and I simple adore the pattern. I am intrigued about how the collar is knitted because it shows only knit stitches. However, the reversible side of a knit stiches shows bumps. The only solution I can think of is that the collar is double the width and folded before the seams are grafted but how to do this I can't visualize.
Would you know the answer to this? If so, I would love to hear from you.
Greetings from Portugal where we live and keep giving us all those handy tips and fun articles.
Um abraço,
Helena Nieman

skull face scarf pattern
skull face scarf pattern: Hi, I had a question for you about the skull face scarf pattern. I've never knitted using the intarsia method before, and I'd like to make this my first try because although it looks complicated, at a closer glance it doesn't seem especially difficult at all. However, while looking at the pattern, and then looking over at the scarf, I'm unsure of the colors. It looks to me that there are many many color changes in each row. The pattern, though, says I'm working 2 rows of black, then 2 rows of my multi-color. Some rows even look like the colors would be 3 black, 2 multi, 1 black, 3 multi, 4 black, 5 multi, 2 black, 1 multi.....etc. Am I right? and if so, how come the chart and the written instructions say you work the pattern entirely in black for 2 rows, then multi color for 2 rows. Could you email me back to let me know what I'm not understanding in the instructions? Thank you so much!

Your influence is expanding!
Your influence is expanding!: Hi Amy,
I've been meaning to email you a note of appreciation for all you've
done to advance the cause of getting knitting patterns written in larger
sizes! Not too long ago, finding larger sizes was a pleasant surprise;
now, it's almost the norm. I suspect (although I haven't done a
scientific study) that you can take a great deal of credit for this,
through your standards for Knitty and your wonderful books!
But, what actually prompted this email was your new blog. I followed
the email you sent today to the Knitty Blog and then to your Small House
Blog and then to Etsy. I didn't buy the desk, but I was taken by the
looks and utility of the aluminum service tray I discovered there, and
guess what will be added to our not-so-small house! (I left a note with
a link to your entry for the owner, Tim, to let him know how I
discovered him.) I love your new blog and your taste in "stuff." It's
all wonderful! Thank you!

Teaching knitting on School of Everything?
Hi Amy
Rachel at the Prick Your Finger yarn shop in Bethnal Green, London suggested I get in touch with you. I'm one of the founders of School of Everything, a website where teachers in any subject can advertise for free and find new students - recently described on Boing Boing as 'eBay for knowledge' (http://www.boingboing.net/2008/09/03/school-of-everything.html).
We have a growing number of arts and crafts teachers on the site, but I know there's lots of other knitters and knitting classes out there! So I'm wondering: is School of Everything something the Knitty community might be interested in? If so, it would be amazing if you could share a link with your readership.
School of Everything's Arts and Crafts section is here:
http://schoolofeverything.com/category/artscrafts
I'd love to know what you think - is there anything else we could be doing to support knitters and craftspeople?
Thank you!

No Poo, just a favor
No Poo, just a favor: Amy,
I was feeling really bad about asking a favor until I saw your message about
leaving no poo. Since I come bearing no poo at all, I feel oh so much better
about it!
Hey, I do a little thing during the month of December called "Knitting
Contrisstmas", interviews and projects. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to do an
interview with you for this coming Contrisstmas season. Would you be
willing? I normally send out an email "interview" that you can answer at
your leisure and get back to me. I file away and post during the season. It
was wildly well received last year and not to do it again would be socially
irresponsible! :-) You can check out the archive on the blog
(www.knittingcontessa.blogspot.com
).
I know that you are incredibly busy but would be just honored as all get out
to have an interview with you. I appreciate even your consideration!!!!!
Thanks

Baroque Sock Pattern Porblem
Baroque Sock Pattern Porblem: I just wanted to let you know I started baroque sock pattern. I was making a
large. I was very disappointed when I finished the first 32 rows of the
pattern only to discover it is not the same as the picture.
The side where the pattern begins had a straight edge from row 15 on and it
looked as if I had forgotten to twist when in fact it was the pattern
showed.
I will now try to use a size 2 with the medium chart and see if it fits.
I also can not figure out where you get a 6 1/2 " circumference when I
checked the large one I had to rip out it was 8" and I was knitting the
gauge.
Please let me know where I got this wrong.
Thanks
Joyce
