Now when ever I see a police car my heart just starts pounding really fast!

As I became more and more distracted, my mother’s excited tone suddenly thrashed me against the wall of reality as she finished the phone call. 

it is a completely different feeling seeing all of these people from so many walks of life come in and sit down.

  Luck. To some people it means finding a five dollar bill on the ground. For some its getting an A on a test. To me it was the Friday night that I came home with my life.

The coup de grace was quick, to end his embarrassment.

During this time I had two dogs that kind of like surrogate mothers. They both were very old, but had raised me and always kept me in line as a toddler. I was as close to them as could be, and they were only dogs.

My mind was focused on the ground until I collided with the door, falling backwards, my butt “sticking the landing,” one might say.

~7:00, game time

~it was still light out when the game began

~bright stadium lights created one huge rectangular spotlight on the soccer field

the sky changed to a fierce darkness, almost going from day to night

-I threw my sweaty exhausted body on the grass


-I was getting terrible side aches, my legs started hurting and i thought I was going to pass out. 

“Were from washington!” They look at me like I’m mentally challenged and then one of my teammates tells me that we were in washington. I had no idea that the tournament was in Vancouver, WA and that we were staying in portland. I felt so embarrassed and humiliated i just walked away and sat down.

I turned to apologize, meeting a pair of sparkling baby blues that seemed to turn my words to mush.

"I climbed steadily onward, paintbrush and paint-filled bucket clamped tightly in my left hand, while my right hand had the ladder in a death grip."

Night after night before the end of the crazy week was devoted to study guides, review guides, graded homework, friends that could tutor me…


Barely able to keep my eyes open each day,



 And when those days came I had to put the exhaustion behind me and simply grab hold of energy from who knows where to just make it through the test. 

"i would move so fast that i could be lightning, and speak so quick it sounded like i spoke a different language!"
