Use Case: Music Fan
Use Case: Music Fan Clubs
Use Case: Music Fan Clubs
Paywall offers an alternative to today's method of monetizing fan clubs and "insider access."
Paywall allows bands to leverage a realtime publishing platform where artists and band members can send digital content directly into a drop for immediate publishing and delivery to subscribed members.
Sample Scenario:
The Droponauts have recently kicked off their 2008 summer tour of the United States and they have decided to leverage Drop.io's Pay Wall system as a platform to deliver "on the road" content to their fan base who have each paid $19.99.
In exchange for their subscription based payment (which is good for 12 months of access to the Droponauts' drop), subscribers will receive:
• voicemail recordings from the band members
• pictures from the road
• ringtones cut while on the bus
• backstage videos
• email alerts when new access is available
• a Dropcast which puts all Droponauts Drop audio and video content directly on the subscirber's iPod

Use Case: Digital As
Use Case: Digital Asset Creators
Paywall allows individual content creators to sell digital assets, files and content on a one-time, multiple access and/or annual basis.
Use Paywall to sell your:
• photographs
• ringtones
• songs
• icons, typefaces or illustrations
Sample Scenario:
Chad is a freelance photographer who makes his living selling his photographs to various non-contracted publishers. He receives multiple requests for commercial licensing of his photographs through various photosharing web sites and his own gallery web site.
Paywall allows Chad to point all interested parties to specific drops setup for specific photosets. For instance, Chad has a very popular series of photographs taken in the DUMBO area of Brooklyn. He has made these images available for preview via his web site, and also via Flickr. Since Chad has received a few requests for this set, he has set up a drop with a limited collection of these photographs and has decided the following:
• Each buyer can use all of the images in the set
• One price gets all of the photographs
• The total price for the photograph includes all of the typical usage fees associated with commerical use of the photographs
Chad informs all interested parties for these photographs that they can be purchased for $99 via this drop. He does this through his web site and by putting purchase information in the comments field in the photoset's Flickr page.
Chad uses his web site and the photo sharing sites to merchandise his photos, and the drop as a lightweight, simple mechanism to conduct his transactions.

Use Case: Subscripti
Use Case: Subscription Based Content Editors
Are you an author or editor of content that you provide on a regular basis? A blogger, analyst or vertical industry publisher?
Use Paywall to publish your content and use Drop.io's suite of sharing tools to announce and distribute your content. Via email, SMS, RSS and Twitter, your content updates will reach all of your paid subscribers.
Sample Scenario:
Chad is the publisher of "Mobile Investor Weekly." A weekly newsletter that focuses on industry news in relation to the mobile industry.
Chad has access to exclusive insider information which makes his newsletter a regular read within the analyst community. While Chad publishes general information and sample excerpts of his newsletter on his public web site, he uses Drop.io as a paid-content publishing platform where he sells annual access to breaking news, rumors and weekly newsletters for $499/year.
Chad uses Paywall as his subscription and payment mechanism for all newsletter sales. Each week Chad publishes his newsletter as a password protected .pdf document that is posted to the drop: drop.io/mobileinvestorweekly. (password: "payw@ll")
In addition to the weekly newsletter, Chad breaks news over Paywall and his subscribers receive updates and insider information as soon as Chad posts it to his Paywall enabled Drop. Chad's work flow is as follows:
• Chad learns of inside information
• Chad emails it directly into the Mobile Investor Weekly drop
• The Drop is updated and all subscribers receive one or more of the following alerts:
- subscriber receives an email message
- subscriber receives a text message on their mobile phone
- subscriber hears about the update over Twitter
- subscriber reads the updates via the RSS feed of Mobile Investor Weekly
