  • present.io (a beta service of drop.io)

    every drop has a built in presentation mode.  log in to the drop as the 'admin' (Using the administrator's password) and you can instantly start a real-time web based media presentation to everyone else on your drop.  No one needs to download anything, there is no registration or installations - it just works, 100% in your browser.  So you can say, "meet me at http://drop.io/mypresentation, and let me walk you through the meeting materials" to as big a group as you want.

    Getting Started:

    to start a presentation from an existing drop just click 'start presentation' on the right hand column or click 'start presentation' on the bottom 'chat layer'- it is just one click to instantly get going.



    to start a presentation from a new drop, go to http://drop.io and make a new 'drop', customize your settings, permissions, and branding as you would like and upload the material you want to present.  then, just click 'start presentation'

    when you start a presentation anyone else currently viewing your drop is asked if they would like to join the presentation.  if they don't want to join, they can decline the invitation.

    if people enter your drop while you are presenting they are also asked if they would like to join, if you would like them to directly enter the presentation and not be asked whether or not to join, simply direct them to http://drop.io/yourdropname/presentation.

    Presenting:

    Whatever media you look at, all participants will see in sync.  If you open a picture, it will open for everyone, if you open a video or audio file and play/pause/rewind it, it will play/pause/rewind for everyone else. 



    If you open a document and flip pages, they will see your document open and the pages flip.  When playing audio or video especially, based on your participant's connection speed there *may* be a loading lag - but upon pause or any other action their players will always re-sync.


    Participants cannot open other media during your presentation, they also cannot advance pages.  You as the presenter have total control of their experience.

    Full screen mode is especially useful for documents.  to enable it simply click 'full screen' on your presentation badge.  Documents opened to 100% of the browser are far easier to read and present.

    Advanced Features:

    free voice conference call line:  every drop has a free conference call line.  it comes in handy

    show your cursor to participants    :  alt-click and the presenter's cursor will flash up on all participant's screens

    control the 'chat'    :  as the presenter you can force the chat layer to open or close for everyone.  useful for feedback.  Just click show/hide chat for all as the presenter.

    control comments on media/files    :  you can also control revealing and hiding the comments on media, a great way to solicit feedback.  just click 'comments' as the presenter.

    control participant downloads    :  if you click 'download' on an asset/piece of media, it will suggest to all participants that they download the file.  just click 'download' as the presenter.

    presenter hand off (multiple presenters)    :  anyone logged in as admin an present, so no problem if you want multiple presenters

    iPhone and Gphone support    : try it out, you can present from your mobile (with javascript support).  Try controlling your computer with it.

    SSL/secure presentations    :  you can give secure presentations with a drop.io manager account -- presentation mode is a free basic function, but if you want SSL presentations, premium management functions, templates, and more - check out drop.io manager.

    Having Problems/Found a bug: first, try clearing your cache (usually under tools -> clear private data)...  if you use drop.io a lot, you may have old versions of our media player on your system that don't work with presentation mode

    that said, if you found a bug or have an issue - we would love to hear about it.  this is a true beta, leveraging a lot of new technology.  we are confident that the platform is solid, but if you find something we would love to hear about it at contact+presentation@dropio.com
